OF UNWANTED THINGS AND PEOPLE | IN PRODUCTION
A writer – sympathetic older man with a beard and red glasses – had kids at an older age than usual. As they run around the house, he wonders. What if he dies before they grow up? Can he leave something to them? He sets to write: about a man who finds a thrown-away book able to bring the reader back in time… About two boys who discover a hut that nobody wants, where fantastic monsters used to live… About two orphans and their strange aunt who turns into a cat when no one sees her… About a lonely man who knows how to fly and becomes king of birds… Maybe kids will learn from these stories that have one thing in common – they´re all about the hidden value Of Unwanted Things and People.

| ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Of Unwanted Things and People started as a producers’ initiated project of three producers from three countries, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia, who know each other since many years thanks to the platform CEE Animation (formerly known as Visegrad Animation Forum), where they meet every year since the last 7 years. The ambition is to make a puppet stop motion film in the best tradition of Central European animation. The project is meant to be a flagship of CEE Animation, a showcase of good practice of how CEE countries can cooperate on a common project. The four directors, two women and two men, chosen one from each co-producing country, are among the best of their generation in experience and by the many awards they received for their short films on international festivals.
The film is composed of 4 chapters, short independent stories, integrated in one film and connected through an overall fifth story that links them together and brings a bigger common message. The overal look and feel of the film is tightly coordinated among the producers and directors to guarantee a unified final film, even though each chapter is produced in every country separately. The look is guaranteed by one common art designer, one music composer, one editor and one sound designer, in addition to all the stories being from one single book for children by Arnošt Goldflam, a recognized Czech writer.
