The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced the semi-finalists for the BAFTA Student Film Awards. Among the six dozen student films selected by the jury from more than 750 entries from thirty countries, there was the short-animated film Electra by Daria Kashcheeva. The finalists will be announced on 7 July.

Electra recently had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival – in the student competition La Cinef – and also in the official competition of the Annecy Festival.  Electra, in which the protagonist tries to define herself in relation to her mother and tries to understand her mixed feelings towards her father, was produced by MAUR film in a Czech-Slovak-French co-production between FAMU, Artichoke and Papy3D.
