The biggest festival of animated films took place in Annecy between 10 – 15. of June. Czech cinematography brought back three important awards. Director Daria Kashcheeva got the main award (Cristal for a graduation film) as well as the children’s jury award (best student film) for her film Daughter. The same jury awarded Martin Smatana’s film The Kite the best children’s film award. 3096 films from 93 countries took part in the competition. Representing the Czech Republic were two puppet films and one animated documentary.

Annecy in numbers: 115 000 tickets sold, almost 12 000 accredited guests, 220 films, 88 countries, more than 500 screenings throughout the week
