| FIMFARUM enters the French distribution French distributor Cinéma Public Films (www.cinema-public-films.com)
prepares a huge release of more than 50 copies of the Czech puppet animation film Fimfárum Third Time Lucky under the title

Le Jardinier qui voulait etre roi. The animated film is based on the well-known book Fimfarum by a key figure
of local 20th century culture Jan Werich and will be screened in 2D and 3D French version. Lardux Films
(www.lardux.com) produced its dubbing with a participation of André Wilms, an actor nominated for the
European Awards last year for the film Le Havre by Aki Kaurismäki. Fimfarum distribution prospect brings
one of the largest releases of a Czech film in France since 1989.

JUST A FEW FIGURES FROM THE MAKING OF THE THIRD TIME LUCKY
The shooting of all the three fairy-tales took 24 months, the first one starting in February 2008 – it adds up to 450 shooting
days. Including post-production the time for making the movie nears almost three years. Altogether more than 70 puppets
were made for this movie, including pigs, a horse, a cat, a squirrel, a jaybird, an owl… and an Executioner. The biggest
crowd scene involves 29 puppets. The number of props goes into thousands, the number of sets into dozens.

The new Fimfarum is a truly exquisitely staged picture combining traditional puppet animation with computer
animation, extremely challenging post-production and a completely new possibility to see a Czech movie for the
first time stereoscopically, in 3D
The total production budget of the film was nearly 30 million Czech crowns, that is approx.1 200 000 EUR.

"Reason and Luck" interested me because of the almost grotesque mischief that both the title characters indulge in to play with the fate
of the main character Lew. And even though Reason and Luck are competing, in the end they have to combine their efforts to
prevail over the Folly and Misfortune that abound all around. (David Súkup)

"Reason and Luck meet very rarely. Reason likes well kept roads properly signposted, with
well marked crossroads and turnings. Luck prefers to wander around the country. When Luck
tires, it settles for any place of rest, be it a cowpat. But Folly and Misfortune are
inseparable companions." Finally it´s a story about a bet between Luck and Reason and
what´s happened than Reason entered in the pig-herds head and Luck went on his way.

"The story is transplanted to the 1960s, in similar fashion to the other two Werich stories in the
new Fimfarum film. A team of three filmmakers goes on an expedition in the Sumava Mountains
to see if it is true that Ogres still live there, and the question is – what will they find?

Setting the story in the 1960s is not typical of Czech animated puppet movies but it creates never
ending possibilities in terms of the choice of costumes, hairstyles, and props (a film-camera, all
the other filmmakers tools, the car,...) which will create a comic effect when combined with the
classic puppets. Just try to imagine a little puppet dressed in terylene trousers, sporting a moustache
and looking at you through thick-set black rimmed glasses..." (Kristína Dufková)

"The story is set in the 1960s, which was the time of my youth, when I was pursuing many
of my interests. I used to go to the cinema to watch the "new wave" movies, to the theatre,
to concerts, I did a lot of sports and acted in a puppet theatre. Young directors nowadays
like to shoot retro films from the 1960s, but I lived during those times and I'm happy that it will be alluded to in my new movie...

For me, the story of the hat and its precious little feather is a fairy tale about old age and the nostalgic memories of long lost youth. Not
everybody manages to go back to their youth even for a brief spell like the King does. But it is also about the modest Jack who is the only
one who understands his father the King and wants to help him. He triumphs over his overbearing brothers and fullfills the King's greatest
